Meet the team

There are twelve members of our team who each play a critical role in the delivery of your care. These consist of Dr Arthur Shizas, Dr Nicholas Wood and Dr Daniel Yeun. Each provide comprehensive treatment but have their particular areas of interest in which they excel. Assisting the doctors are 3 chair side nurses, Arlene, Christina, Hannah and Helga. Claire heads our hygiene and therapy department and has recently been joined by Natalie. Anthea, our practice manager and clinical coordinator will schedule your appointments and handle the accounts, she is supported by Melissa and Vinny.
Dr Arthur Shizas (Principal Dentist)
Dr Arthur Shizas was born in Adelaide as one of three children. His parents migrated from Greece in the 1950’s to give their children a better life. Arthur was born in Adelaide and educated at Blackfriars Priory School. He enjoys good company and good food. Arthur has been involved with the Marques Sports Car Association, racing cars at a competitive amateur level and he extended this passion for racing into horse racing. He also has a love of art and music.Arthur graduated in 1995 with a bachelor of Dental Surgery and commenced working at East Adelaide Dental Studio in 1996. His dental passions include treatment of anxious patients (as he is one himself) and implant dentistry. He has been a key organiser of implant educational events in South Australia through his role as the treasurer of the Australasian Osseointegration (Implant) Society of South Australia and also sits on the federal council of the national Australasian Osseointegration Society. He is also a committee member of for the Australian Society of Computerised Dentistry.
Dr Nicholas Wood
Nicholas attended Rostrevor College for his schooling before university.

Since completing the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Adelaide in 2013, Nicholas has worked in Adelaide as well as rural South Australia. He has interests in family dentistry, restorative dentistry as well as implants and minor oral surgery. Nicholas also currently maintains a private dental practice in Whyalla.

Outside of dentistry Nicholas enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, cooking, running and skiing.

Ms Claire Thornton (Hygienist/Therapist)Claire was born in Adelaide as one of five children to English immigrants. She is a mother of three children, two boys and a girl. Her interests are fitness, food and wine.Claire began working in the field of dentistry at age 15 and has pursued a career spanning 26 years. From humble beginnings as a dental assistant, Claire furthered her training to become a qualified dental therapist and then wanting more challenges she studied hygiene. Claire now holds dual qualifications in Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene. Claire has worked as a clinician in public and private practice and dedicated 6 years to the University of Adelaide as an educator with the School of Dentistry. Claire currently works full time at the East Adelaide Dental Studio and assists as an external examiner for the final exams of the Bachelor of Oral Health Students.Claire believes she is fortunate to love what she does and is passionate about making a difference to a patient’s oral health outcome by empowering her patients and imparting knowledge and skills that enable them to achieve optimal oral health and therefore overall health.Her areas of professional interests and experience are with anxious patients and children’s dentistry. Claire enjoys the patient management aspects as much as hands on treatment and her philosophy is to have a team approach that actively involves her patients with a focus on prevention and maintenance.

Anthea (Practice Manager)

Anthea completed her education at Norwood Morialta High School in 2003.  She then went on to study Dental Assisting in 2004 and she has enjoyed being apart the dynamic and everchanging dental world. Anthea loves interaction with people end enjoys building relationships with the patients.

She is married with a gorgeous baby boy and enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her hobbies are cooking, travelling, and camping.

Melissa ( Office Co-ordinator)

Melissa completed her education at Marryatville High School in 1998 and worked in the hospitality industry with her family. She then started her dental career in administration and chair side 2008 in a specialist practice which then lead her to study a certificate in Dental Assisting. She started at East Adelaide Dental Studio in 2016. She is married with 2 beautiful children which keep her busy . She enjoys football, a Crows supporter, and being with her family.
