Why Should I Get Dentures?
Missing teeth can alter your diet, speaking abilities, self-confidence and social or professional life. If you don’t replace the teeth that are gone, the ones that are left will start to drift out of alignment. Eventually, those teeth will suffer from premature wear. You may even start to experience bone loss and sunken-in facial features.
With a denture, you can easily restore all of the missing teeth at once. Additionally, they fill in the visible areas of your smile, so that you don’t have to feel embarrassed about a tooth that isn’t there.
Over time, you’ll learn how to talk and speak with dentures just as you did before getting an oral appliance.
On a more cosmetic note, dentures help fill out your lips and cheeks by restoring the volume of lost tooth and bone structure in those parts of your mouth.
What to Expect
Getting a new denture made involves a precise planning process. If you need to have any teeth removed, it could require additional healing time or adjustments before the final prosthesis fits correctly.
After taking an impression of your mouth, we’ll send the models to our lab where your denture is made. You can specify a variety of different characteristics, ranging from the colour of your new teeth to their shape and size.
When your appliance is ready, we’ll schedule a try-in visit. Just like trying on a new pair of shoes, a new denture can take some getting used to. If needed, we’ll make adjustments to fine tune the way your prosthesis fits. After a bit of practice, everything should feel fine and fit securely without any added adhesives.
